This position involves performing 60% mechanical work and 40% welding work to repair railcars. The role is physically demanding and involves working in a dirty environment. While fluxcore welding is preferred, it is not mandatory, as MIG welders can be trained. The job includes a weld test to assess skills and training needs.
Responsibilities- Work safely around heavy equipment, railcars, and railroad tracks.
- Coordinate and complete all railcar repairs and maintenance.
- Interpret job work orders and follow blueprints/schematics for required repairs.
- Utilize basic mechanical skills and gain knowledge of machines and tools to weld, cut, and gouge.
- Notify of any materials and/or equipment needed to complete job tasks.
- Follow all safety rules, maintain a clean work area, and comply with all Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.
- Ensure FRA, AAR, and customer quality standards are met.
- Complete any other duties as assigned to accomplish tasks.
- Perform tasks supportive to the essential functions of the job, which may be altered or re-designed as needed.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to weld.
- Knowledge of hand tools, air tools, and other mechanical equipment.
- Ability to stand for long periods and lift repetitively throughout the day.
- Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably with mechanical or railcar work.
- Ability to take a fluxcore weld test to determine training needs.
- Fluxcore welding preferred but not required.
- Experience in torch cutting, grinding, and mechanical assembly.
- Capability to work in varied temperature conditions.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is heavy industrial, very dirty, and requires working in extreme temperatures—hot in the summer and cold in the winter.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hollidaysburg, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
