Job Title: Senior Heavy Equipment Technician
Job Description
The Senior Heavy Equipment Technician is a pivotal role in our maintenance operations, responsible for advanced diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a fleet of heavy equipment primarily Caterpillar. This position also requires operating heavy equipment as needed and overseeing one technician helper. You will utilize computer-based systems such as M5 and TransMan to manage work orders, record maintenance activity, and track parts usage.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs on landfill heavy equipment including dozers, compactors, loaders, haul trucks, and excavators.
- Conduct preventative maintenance according to manufacturer and company standards.
- Service hydraulic, electrical, powertrain, and emissions systems with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of safety, workmanship, and equipment reliability.
- Operate various types of landfill equipment safely to support daily operations and assist with equipment movement, testing, or operational needs.
- Utilize M5 and TransMan systems to create, track, and close work orders, log repairs, track parts usage, and communicate updates to management.
- Provide guidance and hands-on support to an assigned helper/technician, assist with workflow prioritization, and support training and development of junior personnel.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, participate in safety meetings, and respond to equipment breakdowns promptly.
- Assist with parts ordering, vendor communication, and shop organization.
Essential Skills
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a heavy equipment technician, preferably with Caterpillar machinery.
- Strong diagnostics and repair experience with hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel engines, and computerized equipment controls.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment safely and effectively.
- Proficiency with computerized maintenance management systems such as M5 and TransMan.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in outdoor landfill conditions.
This is a Permanent position based out of Kane, PA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $68640.00 - $76960.00/yr.
