Leidos is seeking a Database Developer to support the United States Antarctic Program (USAP). This is an exciting opportunity to apply your experience to support our customer's mission.
This position is a senior member of the Leidos - Antarctic Support Contract (ASC) Information Technology & Communications (IT&C) Data Systems team responsible for installing and maintaining an efficient working environment for a complex network of core production servers contributing to the USAP mission and objectives. The position may have the opportunity to deploy, on a temporary assignment, to Antarctica as determined by management.
Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.
The expected salary range for this role is $135,000 - $145,000 annually.

The Challenge:
- Develop and maintain application interfaces (APIs) between core business applications.
- Write and optimize in-application SQL statements.
- Develop data-driven workflows to automate business requirements.
- Lead common database procedures such as upgrades, backups, recoveries, and migrations.
- Profile server resource usage; optimize and adjust as necessary.
- Reverse engineer database models of COTS packages.
- Work collaboratively with program management and administrative departments to comprehend processes and needs for reporting efforts.
- Assist with researching, testing, and deployment of reporting-based projects.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field with emphasis in system administration and 8 years of prior relevant experience; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
- Outstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated understanding of inter-dependencies and relationships from complex technical data sets and be a creative problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and its variation among common databases; must be able to optimize complex SQL statements.
- Advanced knowledge of database design, design best practices, and troubleshooting common database issues.
- Expertise in building data interfaces into external APIs, Active Directory, and SharePoint.
- Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as GIT.
- Expert knowledge of SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Stored Procedures and functions.
- Proficient in Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) methods especially importing Excel spreadsheets, XML and JSON data models.
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting.
- Proficient in web application development tools such as ColdFusion, ASP.Net, PHP, and Python.
- Proficient in managing Microsoft Dynamics 365 on-premises installations.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Power Apps.
- A demonstrated ability to be a team player and possess the willingness to lend a hand with any project; portray high level of initiative, drive, and dedication while working independently.
- Strong documentation skills are required.
