Position Overview

We’re seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join our Design Services Group in Florence, SC—home to our North American Elevator Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain operations. This role focuses on modeling and drawing generation for mechanical hardware and components used in elevator systems. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with strong cross-functional communication skills to support innovation and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide design support to internal teams and external customers
  • Modify existing components and develop new solutions to enhance product durability and performance
  • Investigate and resolve engineering challenges with a hands-on, analytical approach
  • Create detailed models and drawings at both component and system levels
  • Contribute to cost-reduction initiatives through smart design and optimization

Required Skills & Expertise

  • Mechanical design engineering
  • 3D modeling and 2D detailing using Creo
  • Familiarity with Windchill for product lifecycle management
  • Root Cause Analysis and FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis)
  • Understanding of mechanical systems, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), and design robustness
