Per Diem CNC Machinist position located in Goose Creek, SC paying $140 per diem

Job Description

As an Machinist, you will set up and operate a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to craft metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines with exacting tolerances and dimensions. You will interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to determine the sequence of operations, the number of cuts required, and the method of setup. You will utilize a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments, make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds, and fit and assemble precision parts into mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate machine tools to make metal parts to exacting tolerances.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
• Determine sequence of operations and number of cuts required.
• Use machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Make computations relating to dimensions, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
• Lay out stock for machining and assemble precision parts.
• Modify numerically controlled programs on NC machines.
• Monitor and verify quality in accordance with control procedures.

Essential Skills

• 5 years of related experience with a High School diploma/GED.
• Certification in the assigned area preferred.
• Proficiency in SIEMENS 840D Controls for large part machining.
• Experience with lathes, milling machines, and precision grinders.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience on Horizontal Boring Mills with extensive travel range and load capacity.
• Ability to work on Navy vessels or in a shop environment.
• Capable of working any shift including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts.

This is a Contract position based out of Goose Creek, SC.

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $50.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Goose Creek,SC.
