Job Title: Lead Avionics Technician

Overview

Aerotek Aviation is currently searching for a Lead Avionics Technician to be hired directly for one of our Aircraft Maintenance Company clients based out of Greenville, SC. This is a direct hire role offering competitive pay, benefits and relocation assistance for those in need.

Job Description

The Lead Avionics Technician will be hired to oversee and execute avionics installations and modification projects on both general aviation and cabin-class corpore jets. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, technically proficient, especially with Garmin and Rockwell Collins systems, and capable of working both autonomously and in a team environment. This role is critical to ensure that every project is delivered on time and meets the highest standards of quality and compliance.

Starting Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 a year

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute avionics installation and modification projects from start to finish.
  • Perform detailed installation, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of Garmin and Rockwell Collins systems.
  • Assign tasks, support technicians, and monitor workflow to maintain schedule and quality expectations.
  • Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, STCs, and installation manuals to perform accurate system installs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Conduct quality inspections and maintain proper documentation in compliance with FAA and company standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to avionics technicians and apprentices.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and resource needs to leadership.
  • Maintain an organized, safe, and professional work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of avionics installation, troubleshooting and repair experience (lead technician preferred).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Garmin and Rockwell Collins avionics platforms.
  • Proven experience performing installations and modifications on general aviation and corporate jets such as Cessna Citations or Challengers.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and technical documents.
  • Attention to detail with a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet critical deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.

Nice to have Qualifications

  • Garmin G1000 factory training certificate preferred but not required.
  • Rockwell Collins factory training certificate preferred but not required.
  • FCC License, A&P Certificate, or Avionics Certification preferred but not required.
  • Ability to pass and meet all safety/regulatory requirements.

Work Environment

1st shift opportunities, Monday to Friday, 7-4pm with weekends as needed. The work environment emphasizes safety, professionalism, and the use of cutting-edge avionics technologies.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Greenville, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/yr.

Benefits: You will be eligible to participate in the following benefits: • Health Insurance, effective 1st of the month following date of employment. • 401(k) retirement plan with a 3% employer match • Paid Vacation: Two (2) weeks of paid vacation per year • Additional Benefits contained in the full benefits packet attached Relocation assistance will be offered on a case by case basis
