Overview

An industry‑leading equipment operations team located on the port is seeking an experienced Diesel Technician to support, repair, and maintain a wide range of heavy equipment and yard trucks essential to daily port operations. This role is ideal for a hands‑on technician who thrives in a fast‑paced, high‑impact environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on yard trucks and related diesel equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including wiring, charging systems, and battery components.
• Conduct computer‑based diagnostics and troubleshoot emission control systems.
• Execute welding and fabrication projects as needed.
• Inspect, repair, and maintain air brake systems.
• Maintain accurate and organized service records and documentation.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE.
• Assist the Service Manager with additional tasks as assigned.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Minimum 2 years of diesel mechanic experience or related field experience.
• Strong understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Basic computer skills for diagnostics and documentation.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Current DOT/Medical card certification.

Preferred Skills

• Welding experience (MIG, Stick, or Fabrication).
• Familiarity with DPF/DEF systems.
• Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks (climbing, kneeling, stooping).
• Ownership of a complete set of quality hand tools (preferred but not required).

This is a Permanent position based out of North Charleston, SC.

The pay range for this position is $43860.00 - $72800.00/yr.

This is a fully onsite position in North Charleston,SC.
