Job Title: Traveling Pipelayer
Job Description
We are seeking a strong and experienced Pipelayer with over 2 years of experience in underground utilities. This is a traveling position that offers opportunities for overtime, with hotel accommodation and per diem expenses covered.
Responsibilities
- Excavate and grade trenches using hand tools or in coordination with heavy equipment operators.
- Lay, align, and join pipes made of PVC, steel, concrete, and other materials.
- Cut pipes to required lengths using saws or pipe cutters.
- Install fittings, valves, and seals to ensure tight connections.
- Set and check pipe elevations and alignment using lasers, levels, and grade stakes.
- Backfill and compact trenches after installations are complete.
- Inspect pipelines for defects, leaks, or misalignment before covering.
- Follow safety standards and regulations related to excavation and confined spaces.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
- Communicate with supervisors and crew members to ensure timely project completion.
Essential Skills
- Experience with underground utility work, including sewer systems and wastewater.
- Knowledge of trenching, shoring, excavation, stormwater, and civil construction.
- Proficiency in storm drain and pipe laying.
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, such as excavators.

Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Johnson City, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
