As a Fiber Technician, you will be responsible for installing and routing fiber optic cabling within multi-dwelling units. You will perform fiber splicing, termination, and testing, and install wall plates, jacks, enclosures, and network equipment. Your role will also involve reading and interpreting building layouts, fiber design prints, and construction documents. Using appropriate testing equipment such as OTDR, power meter, and light source, you will test fiber, label, and document all installed fiber according to company standards. Maintaining a clean and organized work area in occupied buildings is essential, as is communicating professionally with property managers, tenants, and team members. You must follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
Responsibilities- Install and route fiber optic cabling within multi-dwelling units.
- Perform fiber splicing, termination, and testing.
- Install wall plates, jacks, enclosures, and network equipment.
- Read and interpret building layouts, fiber design prints, and construction documents.
- Test fiber using appropriate testing equipment (OTDR, power meter, light source).
- Label and document all installed fiber according to company standards.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in occupied buildings.
- Communicate professionally with property managers, tenants, and team members.
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
- Experience in fiber optic installation and construction.
- Proficiency in fiber splicing.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in tight spaces.
- Comfortable working indoors for extended periods.
- Experience working in multi-dwelling or commercial environments.
- Fiber splicing certification.
- Knowledge of low-voltage cabling standards.
- Understanding of fiber distribution systems within buildings.

Work EnvironmentThe role involves working with tools such as the Cheetah Splicer and requires the ability to do a single splice and pull fiber through conduit. You must be able to use a flex bit, walk through attics, and take wire from the main point to equipment. Safety equipment like a safety vest and glasses is necessary. While basic hand tools are nice to have, they are not mandatory. The position requires flexibility in working within multi-dwelling units and commercial environments.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
