Job Title: International Document Agent
Job Description
Prepare customs entries for all shipments to be submitted to U.S. Customs in a timely manner. Review documents for accuracy and ensure compliance with customs regulations. Identify products subject to Other Government Agencies (OGA) requirements and derive Harmonized Schedule Tariff codes. Interface with customers regarding Customs and Border Protection (CBP), OGA delivery, and irregularities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit customs entries for all shipments to U.S. Customs.
- Review documents for accuracy and compliance with customs regulations.
- Identify products subject to Other Government Agencies (OGA) requirements.
- Derive Harmonized Schedule Tariff codes and enter OGA/PGA data.
- Interface with customers on CBP, OGA delivery, and irregularities.
- Manage daily tracking reports for open shipments.
- Track and trace shipments, coordinating with steamship lines, freight forwarders, and Container Freight Stations (CFS) on the availability of imported shipments.
- Issue delivery orders and arrange with trucking companies for pick-up and delivery.
- Handle accounting processes, including the issuance of invoices and freight bill approval.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
- 3–5 years of relevant experience with a strong understanding of current U.S. Customs regulations and Harmonized Tariff Codes.
- Proficiency in CargoWise One.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Customs Broker License is a plus, but not required.
- Experience in customer service, negotiation skills, billing research, import logistics, ocean import, invoicing, administrative support, order entry, documentation process, email handling, ocean export, bill of lading, ocean freight.
Work Environment
This position is located onsite at corporate headquarters in an office environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Memphis, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.00 - $28.00/hr.
