Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team at the Murfreesboro location. This role is pivotal in providing nursing care under the direction of a physician or physician extender, ensuring the highest standards of patient care and clinical support.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients under the direction of a physician or physician extender.
- Demonstrate knowledge of medical practice, examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Utilize medical equipment and instruments effectively.
- Identify and mitigate common safety hazards within the clinical setting.
- Assist in common office procedures and take and enter vital signs into Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Maintain patient records with confidentiality and perform triage for patient calls.
- Provide patient health counseling, education, and instruction.
- Collaborate with the clinical care team to support routine office procedures.
- Conduct pre-visit planning and update patient charts with recent medication changes and test results.
- Review and report lab results to the physician for further guidance.
- Prepare patients for exams and treatments by escorting them from the waiting area to the exam room, obtaining urinalysis, and taking vital signs.
- Document all information in the EMR and conduct monthly chronic care management encounters for enrolled patients.
- Execute and document orders from physicians or physician extenders under supervision.
- Assist with scheduling tests and treatments as needed.
Essential Skills
- Valid CMA certification in Tennessee.
- 2-3+ years of experience as a medical assistant.
- Current BLS certification.
- Proficiency in medical assisting and patient care.
- Ability to perform and interpret urine test strips and lab results.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Proficiency in basic arithmetic and computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Ability to use various types of equipment for examination and treatment procedures.
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Work Environment
The role operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. You will manage a patient load of 30-35 individuals, providing one-on-one care. The team consists of a nurse, receptionist, and medical assistant. The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, occasionally bend, sit, stoop, and stretch.
