Job Description
We are seeking a Project Manager who can effectively collaborate with our internal concept design team and external vendors to ensure the seamless integration and verification of mechanical designs for material handling equipment (MHE). This role involves managing design verification processes, handling vendor interactions, reviewing requests for proposals (RFPs), and making informed decisions based on schedule timelines, cost considerations, and quality standards. The Project Manager will also address any escalations to stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal concept design teams and external vendors to verify finalized mechanical designs of MHE equipment.
- Conduct design verification checks and manage the integration of equipment with vendors.
- Review RFPs and make decisions based on schedule timelines, cost, and quality.
- Handle escalations and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Travel 40%-50% of the time to project sites, typically 1-3 days per trip, with no weekend travel required.
- Mechanical design knowledge of material handling equipment.
- Experience in project management and vendor management.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in design engineering, automation, material handling, conveyor systems, and material flow.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering preferred (mechanical, industrial, electrical, manufacturing).
- Understanding of upstream/downstream component changes within systems engineering.
- Experience in adding capacity or retrofitting inbound areas for new equipment and rearranging existing equipment.
- Proven success in designing new equipment layouts or retrofits for line implementation or launches.
- Experience in automation as a mechanical engineer is a plus.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, with 1-2 days a week onsite during non-travel weeks. The role requires frequent travel, approximately 40%-50% of the time, to project sites. The successful candidate will report to the Industrial Design Manager. Performance will be measured based on meeting project deadlines and milestones.

This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $135000.00/hr.
