Project Engineer – Solar Engineering & Design

Location: Nashville, TN

Employment Type: Full-Time || 6 month contract to hire || Hybrid Schedule

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Project Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of solar tracker systems. In this role, you will collaborate with global engineering teams, contribute to product configuration updates, and help deliver high‑quality construction plan sets for utility‑scale solar projects. This position is ideal for candidates who are passionate about solar energy and eager to grow in a fast‑paced, innovative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed tracker layouts, CAD blocks, mechanical sheets, and full construction plan sets.
  • Review site information and design inputs to recommend appropriate tracker product types based on unique site conditions.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams—particularly those in India—to update product configurations, drafting standards, and assist with the development of automation procedures.
  • Conduct value engineering to reduce project costs and improve overall system efficiency.
  • Work closely with cross‑regional design teams to implement new product standards, manage design changes, and address project‑related issues.
  • Learn and apply topographic and hydrologic analysis to determine optimal tracker placement and grading considerations.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to support both internal and external customer needs.
  • Support construction planning efforts and assist with bills of materials, foundation design, and project quoting.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably within the solar industry (recent graduates with this experience are encouraged to apply).
  • BS in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with AutoCAD Civil is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of drafting standards and construction sheet sets.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Self‑motivated, team‑oriented mindset with strong communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of PV plant design is a plus.
  • A passion for solar and renewable energy.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.66 - $52.89/hr.
