Job Description
Join our dynamic team at our Nashville location as a Medical Assistant, where you will provide essential nursing care under the guidance of a physician or physician extender. You will utilize your knowledge of medical practices and procedures to ensure the highest quality of patient care in a clinical setting.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care under the direction of a physician or physician extender.
- Assist in common office procedures and take vital signs, entering them into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Conduct triage for patient calls for urgent appointments or interventions under direct supervision.
- Provide patient health counseling, education, and instruction.
- Support routine office procedures and collaborate with the clinical care team.
- Maintain patient records, ensuring confidentiality at all times.
- Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient charts with recent medication changes and test results.
- Review and report lab results to the physician for further guidance.
- Prepare patients for exams and treatments by escorting them to the exam room, obtaining urinalysis, and taking vital signs.
- Document all information in the EMR.
- Conduct and document monthly chronic care management encounters for enrolled patients.
- Execute and document orders from physicians or physician extenders under supervision.
- Assist with scheduling tests and treatments as needed.
Essential Skills
- Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
- Proficiency with medical equipment and instruments.
- Awareness of common safety hazards and precautions in clinical settings.
- Ability to perform and read urine test strips.
- Skill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance.
- Ability to interpret lab results and report to physicians.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Basic computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- CMA certification, valid in Tennessee.
- 2-3+ years of experience as a medical assistant.
- Current licensure, valid in Tennessee.
- Current BLS certification.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
Work Environment
Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. You will handle a patient load of 30-35, working one-on-one with a nurse and receptionist. The role requires sitting or standing for extended periods, with occasional bending, stooping, and stretching.
