Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

We’re looking for a detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support specimen processing and data accuracy in a fast-paced clinical environment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong technical skills and a passion for healthcare to grow in a supportive setting.

The lab assistant will be responsible for picking up tissue specimens from different areas of the hospital and transporting them to the lab. Additionally, this role involves data entry of patient information and assisting in processing and storing the specimens. The lab assistant will collaborate with a full-time lab assistant, a part-time assistant, and four pathology assistants.

Responsibilities

• Collect tissue specimens from various hospital areas and transport them to the lab.
• Enter patient information accurately into the data system.
• Assist in the processing and storage of specimens.
• Collaborate with other lab and pathology assistants to ensure efficient operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience in a lab environment and with lab equipment.
• Prior experience in hospital labs is ideal.
• Minimum requirement of some experience in healthcare.
• Strong computer and data entry skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Pipetting skills and laboratory processing experience.
• Production and inventory experience.
• Consideration given to recent graduates with a science degree.

Work Environment

The position is set in a hospital lab setting, requiring comfort with staying busy, standing, and walking throughout the day. You will deal with specimen collections in a fast-paced environment. Personal protective equipment such as face shields, gloves, surgical masks, and lab coats will be provided.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Austin, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
