Description
TEKsystems is looking to bring on a Systems Administrator for a 6 month contract that will likely extend or convert. Their current team is overloaded with projects and they need to bring someone in to spread out the workload. This person should have 3-5 years of previous Systems Administration experience. They will be expected to have experience with VMware, Azure, basic network and server concepts, on prem AD, Apple MDM, and Windows Management. They will work on both reactive and proactive projects. In addition to their standard responsibilities in the IT Operations team, they will be expected to handle escalated tickets from the Service Delivery team.
It is integral to the role that this person is able to perform in an environment with minimal direct supervision. They are more than happy to help coach and train, but as this person learns, they should be able to pick things up and run with them.
As the Associate Systems Administrator, you will work through the ever changing IT infrastructure requirements of an evolving company. The current systems stack consists of workloads in Azure, AWS, GCP and on-premises converged technology. You will be a key contributor in leveraging the currently implemented systems technologies and enhancing related processes and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Understanding of network concepts (subnetting, LACP, etc.) and real-world application (switching, routing, firewalls).
• Responsible for the administration/management of all endpoints utilizing software such as Intune, SCCM and Mosyle.
• Deploy and manage Windows and Linux physical and virtual servers, backups and various third-party applications; provide administration and support for these applications.
• Responsible for the installation, administration, configuration, maintenance and support of applications and systems to ensure stable performance
• Maintain communications with in-house staff, contract staff and vendors regarding all aspects of company projects from inception through hardware/software installation, and any interfacing needs.
• Ability to work independently without supervision and as part of the team, as well as with other teams.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation.
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of all business-critical systems within the Corporate Office, other office locations and retail locations by monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.
• Ensure that records of system downtime and hardware inventory are properly maintained; apply revisions to host system firmware and software.
• Work with vendors to assist support activities related to hosting systems (SAP, MES, Salesforce, etc.).
• Develop new custom scripts and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability and IT efficiency.
• Perform systems and software troubleshooting as required.
• Engage with IT Cybersecurity to implement system-level security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
• Stay current with technological developments in systems administration technology and cybersecurity.
• Prepare reports or correspondence concerning application, system and project statuses, and policies/procedures.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for afterhours support.
Qualifications and Attributes:
• Position located in Austin, TX and will work in a hybrid environment.
• At least 3 years of professional experience and Bachelor’s degree required.
• At least 3-5 years of experience with overall systems administration.
• Production experience with on-premises Active Directory (DC, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Sites and Services, Certificate Authority).
• Production experience with Apple MDM (Mosyle, Kandji, JAMF) and Windows management solutions (Azure, Intune, SCCM).
• Production experience with VMware host configurations (clustering, vSAN, vCenter).
• Production Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, GCP, AWS).
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (subnetting, firewalls, switching, VPN tunnels).
• Ability to drive between offices in the Austin metro area.
• Ability to lift and transport moderately heavy objects such as servers and UPS components that may exceed 50 pounds.
