Job Title: Distribution Engineer


Job Description

As a Distribution Engineer, you will be involved in system design, engineering, and supervisory roles, ensuring compliance with distribution design guidelines and standards. Your role will encompass creating distribution design prints, specifying construction standards, and reviewing, approving, and stamping distribution designs and drawings. You will also be responsible for mentoring new distribution designers, providing quality assurance and control of design projects, and preparing new drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Utility Design methods.


Responsibilities

  • Create distribution design prints following distribution design guidelines and standards.
  • Specify distribution construction standards.
  • Review, approve, and stamp distribution designs and drawings.
  • Mentor and train new distribution designers.
  • Provide quality assurance and quality control of design projects.
  • Specify necessary materials according to distribution construction standards.
  • Perform and provide cost estimates to customers.
  • Support distribution designers with customer-related issues and expectations.
  • Prepare new drawings utilizing AutoCAD and/or Autodesk Utility Design methods.

Essential Skills

  • 4+ years of experience in distribution design.
  • Associates degree in engineering or design discipline.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and GIS.
  • Knowledge of distribution design, transmission, and power delivery.
  • Familiarity with NESC and distribution power systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with electrical design and utility design.
  • Experience in drafting, power and utilities, electrical engineering, and distribution engineering.

Work Environment

This role is primarily remote, with support currently provided to PPL. The expectation is to extend support to various clients by the end of the year. The standard office hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM. This is a 3-6 month contract (with the potential for a longer contract to hire situation, but not guaranteed).
