Job Description
Individuals within this job classification are accountable for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting care activities in accordance with HHS standards to deliver efficient, effective, and quality patient care. The Registered Nurse (RN) must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit. Additionally, the RN must demonstrate knowledge of contrast media injections and reactions and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient’s status, interpreting the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs. The RN is responsible for planning the provision of patient care, including the development, modification, and implementation of the plan of care in accordance with HHS standards, as described in the Patient Care policies and procedures. Adherence to the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act is expected. Participation in performance improvement initiatives and assisting with other day-to-day departmental activities is required. Must be available for 24-hour call back with a 60-minute response time.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document care activities in accordance with HHS standards.
- Provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
- Demonstrate knowledge of contrast media injections and reactions.
- Assess data reflective of the patient’s status and interpret appropriate information to identify each patient's requirements relative to their age-specific needs.
- Plan for the provision of patient care, including the development, modification, and implementation of the plan of care.
- Adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the Oklahoma Nursing Practice Act.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist with other activities necessary for the day-to-day operation of the department.
- Must be available for 24-hour call back with a 60-minute response time.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Current Oklahoma Nursing License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification
- 1 year of ICU experience
- Procedure experience
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
- Experience with post-operative patient care
- Experience with invasive radiology procedures
Work Environment
- The work environment consists of Monday through Friday shifts from either 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Rotating weekend call will occur every 8th to 10th weekend, and weekday call rotation will also follow a similar schedule. RNs will cover 3 labs, 5 holding bays for pre- and post-procedure patients, CT invasive procedures averaging 5 per day, ultrasound invasive procedures averaging 10 per day, and MRI anesthesia and pacemaker cases averaging 3 per day.
