Job Title: Sheet Metal Machine Programmer - CNC Programmer

Irving, TX


Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Machine Programmer to become an integral part of our fabrication team. This role is centered around creating precise CNC programs for laser cutting, punching, tube laser, and bending machines using Trumpf TruTops Boost. The ideal candidate will excel in reading engineering drawings, selecting appropriate tooling, and determining optimal bend sequences. A comprehensive understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes and material optimization is crucial. You will collaborate closely with engineers and operators to troubleshoot issues, enhance workflow, and support production efficiency in a dynamic environment.


Responsibilities

  • Utilize Trumpf TruTops Boost to calculate bend deductions and create flat patterns for accurate preparation of parts for punch, lasers, and press brakes.
  • Develop CNC programs for laser cutting, punching, tube laser, and bending machines using Trumpf TruTops Boost.
  • Select appropriate tooling based on material type and thickness.
  • Determine proper brake tooling and bend sequences.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work orders.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize productivity.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to CAD/CAM outputs, nesting errors, and machine compatibility.
  • Complete work accurately and in a timely manner with attention to detail.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years experience in sheet metal fabrication operations such as experience in Punch, Laser, Panel Bender, Tube Laser, Brake Press.
  • 3+ years of experience with programming sheet metal fabrication machines using Trumpf TruTops Boost software (preferred) or similar CNC software.
  • Familiarity with MRP/ERP software for fabrication workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to read blueprints and develop optimal tool paths and setups with high accuracy and attention to maximum material utilization.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced team-oriented manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Nesting experience is a plus.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office environment with scheduled time on the factory floor for collaboration meetings. The role is expected to work 40 hours per week, with flexible start time schedules available.
