Job Title: Health and Safety Specialist


Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive safety training to employees, update safety manuals, ensure regulatory compliance, conduct audits, and maintain accurate safety records. They will also play a crucial role in investigating incidents, advising management, and developing a Safety Management System.


Responsibilities

  • Provide safety training for all employees on policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Update the company’s safety manual and emergency response plans.
  • Collaborate with the health and safety consultant.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with safety standards.
  • Conduct safety audits, recommend, and implement remedial measures.
  • Maintain accurate records of training, audits, and remediation activities.
  • Investigate and analyze accidents and incidents, generate reports, track metrics, and report these to management.
  • Advise management on health and safety issues and resolutions.
  • Conduct health and safety testing, including annual hearing tests and mask fit tests.
  • Develop and maintain an FAA approved Safety Management System (SMS).

Essential Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations.
  • Familiarity with health and safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of raw materials, metal fabricating techniques, and machinery.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to teach health and safety topics to groups.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong work ethic and good time management.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • 6 years’ experience in manufacturing health and safety.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience in documentation, process improvement, material review, audits, reporting, and compliance.

Work Environment

The position is based onsite in a manufacturing facility. This long-term contract opportunity is with a leading aerospace and defense organization in the DFW area.
