I. Job Summary
The Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting, will be a key member of the Chief Accounting Officer's organization. The individual will work cross functionally with other departments within the Finance organization, Investor Relations, Corporate Governance and Treasury. The position requires a strong understanding of and working experience with SEC reporting requirements and U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (US GAAP") and will be involved in the interpretation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements, technical accounting research projects, drafting new accounting policies and procedures, and revising existing policies and procedures as necessary for changes in US GAAP.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
- Interpret US GAAP, SEC and other relevant accounting guidance to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment for new, material, and/or complex or unusual transactions or agreements, including in the deal structuring phase. Key topics include but are not limited to:
- Revenue recognition,
- Derivatives and hedging,
- Leases,
- Accounting for debt and equity transactions, and
- Variable interest entities (VIEs) and consolidation
- Follow emerging technical guidance and proactively analyze and document the impacts on the Company's current accounting practices, controls and financial position.
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and SEC rules.
- Coordinate with external auditors to facilitate their review and sign-off on technical accounting matters.
- Provided assistance on various financial reporting tasks such as the 10-K and 10-Q reporting process.
- Assist in reviewing other financial statements and reports and participate in special projects within the accounting function, as needed.

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.
A. Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; Master's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, preferred
- Experience: 9 plus years of relevant work experience with extensive experience interpreting and applying U.S GAAP. A combination of public accounting (Big 4) and public company accounting experience, preferred
- Required: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Strong understanding of GAAP, Sarbanes Oxley and SEC regulations.
- Strong technical acumen, analytical and financial reporting skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills; manages own time to meet objectives; forecasts and plans resource requirements; must be able to multi-task.
- Ability to carry out responsibilities with a sense of urgency.
- Strong business acumen.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must be in the Houston area; No relocations for this role.
