Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer

Job Description

We have a client seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Houston. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 7 years of experience as a mechanical engineer and possess a strong understanding of Autodesk Inventor, and Plant 3D. You will play a crucial role in converting customer requirements into detailed engineering specifications, including drawings and bills of materials, while providing P&ID support.

Responsibilities

  • Work from detailed order specifications to convert customer requirements into detailed engineering specifications, including drawings and bills of materials.
  • Create typical component fabrication and assembly drawings, General Arrangement drawings, P&IDs, and PFDs.
  • Create, update, and maintain drawings using AutoCAD, Inventor, and Plant 3D software.
  • Modify existing project drawings for modification and upgrade projects.
  • Maintain project and product drawings under change control in AutoDesk Vault.
  • Check each design against job specifications and run numerical analysis using company tools to verify design parameters.
  • Consider form, fit, and function in design; ensure safety in assembly, maintenance, and operation; focus on the method and ease of manufacture and assembly, and select appropriate materials of construction.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in Inventor, Plant 3D, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience in P&ID support and mechanical systems engineering.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with companies such as DXP, SPX, Proserv, Myclex, or similar is a plus.
  • Familiarity with conveyor systems, environmental, and water/wastewater projects is beneficial.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office environment with a standard work schedule of 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Employees are offered benefits such as paid time off and holidays.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $55.00/hr.
