Job Title: GIS Technician

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled GIS Technician with expertise in GIS Software, ArcMap, UPDM, and Arc Catalog tools. The successful candidate will be responsible for utilizing ArcGIS to create and edit linear and stationed route events, as well as conducting research on historical pipeline data.

Responsibilities

• Utilize GIS Software, ArcMap, UPDM, and Arc Catalog tools to create and edit linear and stationed route events.
• Conduct GPS surveys and generate reports.
• Research pipeline historical data, including materials lists, completion reports, maintenance records, and management of change forms.
• Utilize FileNet for documentation storage and retrieval.
• Update and verify documentation, review PDF drawings, and alignment sheets.
• Retrieve and manage project information from various sources including project managers and databases.
• Generate alignment sheets for quality control to ensure pipeline integrity.
• Read and utilize drawings, schematics, and detail drawings for pipeline and pump stations.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of pipeline GIS experience.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS, Arc Catalog tools, and UPDM.
• Ability to research historical pipeline data and generate alignment sheets.
• Competency in reading and utilizing drawings, schematics, and alignment sheets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Ability to research archived hardcopy pipeline asset documentation.
• Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with project managers.
• Experience in drafting, design, and modeling.

Work Environment

The position is based in an office environment with a business casual dress code. The role will primarily involve desk work, with occasional interaction with project leaders and managers. The work is long-term with indefinite contracts, offering holiday and vacation benefits.
