Job Description
This role leads the full lifecycle of complex systems engineering solutions, from concept of operations through validation and sustainment. The Systems Engineer VII organizes and directs technical efforts across modeling, hardware, and software, ensuring scalable and robust system architectures. The position combines hands-on lab work, integration and test leadership, and model-based systems engineering with strategic responsibilities such as design reviews, cost and schedule ownership, and influencing key technical decisions. The engineer serves as a technical mentor and leader for multidisciplinary teams, driving high-quality solutions in a fully onsite environment.
Responsibilities
- Organize and lead the development of full lifecycle systems solutions from CONOPS through validation and sustainment.
- Collaborate closely with customers, subcontractors, and executive leadership to define, refine, and deliver system capabilities.
- Lead lab activities, including setup, configuration management, and execution of system and subsystem testing.
- Ensure modeling, hardware, and software interfaces use a scalable and consistent ontology to support Model-Based Systems Engineering.
- Develop, decompose, and derive system and subsystem requirements using SysML and MBSE tools.
- Define and document system and subsystem designs, ensuring traceability from requirements to implementation and test.
- Own the planning and execution of design reviews, including preparation of technical content, cost estimates, and schedules.
- Lead integration activities, including integration planning, dry runs, and formal qualification testing.
- Apply strong integration and test practices, including use of digital twins, test procedures, test automation, test execution, and test reporting.
- Review and document major changes in systems or processes to address complex technical problems and ensure system integrity.
- Influence decision-makers by developing and presenting recommended courses of action for complex technical and programmatic issues.
- Apply Earned Value Management System concepts to monitor and manage cost, schedule, and technical performance.
- Mentor professionals at varying levels of experience, providing technical guidance in systems engineering, MBSE, and integration and test.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams that may include electrical, mechanical, software, test, logistics, and other systems engineers.
- Support systems for software and hardware development, including system or application integration.
- Contribute to communication and networking solutions, particularly for ground-based, ship, submarine, or airborne platforms, as applicable.
- Support and refine architectures related to survivable mobile command center operations, when required.
- Use scripting and automation to enhance modeling, analysis, integration, and test activities.
- Mastery of engineering tooling such as CAMEO, Rhapsody, Microsoft Office products, and tasking boards such as Jira or IBM Engineering Workflow Management.
- Strong knowledge of integration and test, including digital twins, test procedures, test automation, test execution, and test reporting.
- Practical experience across the full Systems Engineering V lifecycle, from CONOPS development through sustainment.
- Experience developing, decomposing, and deriving system and subsystem requirements.
- Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering concepts and tools, including SysML and MBSE methodologies.
- Experience in system and subsystem design definition and documentation.
- Knowledge of or application of Earned Value Management System principles.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams of design professionals, including electrical, mechanical, software, test, logistics, and systems engineers.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree (master’s) in a related field and a minimum of 7 years of experience, or in the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with tools such as Cameo and MagicDraw for model-based systems engineering.
- Proficiency in model-based systems engineering and SysML.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance prior to start.
- Eligibility for and maintenance of a security clearance in accordance with U.S. government requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field.
- Experience with Survivable Mobile Command Center architectures and operations.
- Experience providing systems support to software and hardware development teams.
- Experience with system or application integration across complex platforms.
- Experience with communication radios and systems such as SATCOM, LOS/BLOS, AEHF, or V/UHF.
- Experience with computer networking for ground-based, ship, submarine, or airborne platforms.
- Experience with and knowledge of scripting to support automation and analysis.
- Experience with very low frequency (VLF) systems or related technologies.
- Familiarity with digital engineering practices and configuration management in lab environments.
This position is fully onsite in Richardson, Texas, with no remote or hybrid options. Standard work hours are generally 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with some flexibility as business needs allow. The role involves significant time in lab environments, including hands-on work with system setups, configuration management, and integration and test activities using digital twins and MBSE tools. All hours are billed at a straight-time rate in accordance with FLSA, and time entry is managed through a designated electronic system. Interviews are conducted via Zoom video. Assignments may be extended beyond six months, and there is a possibility of conversion to a direct hire role, depending on performance and business needs. The environment emphasizes collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, structured design reviews, and rigorous testing in a professional, technology-driven setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $80.00 - $92.00/hr.
