Data Center Technician

Description

One of TEKsystem's Telecommunication's Clients in New York is currently working directly with some of the largest NY based Telecom companies to support a Data Center buildout in Round Rock Texas. Due to the company being out of New York , they are building a team through TEKsystems to staff this data center build properly. Technician hired must have experience working in a data center installing fiber. Technicians will be expected to Pull (install) fiber, label fiber, and test fiber.

Job Overview

• Location: Round Rock, Texas
• Client: A New York-based telecom company working through TEKsystems
• Project: Building out the fiber backbone of a new data center

Top Required Skills

• Fiber Pulling: Efficient and safe installation of fiber optic cables within a data center environment.
• Fiber Labeling: Accurate and quick identification of fiber lines using lacing and stitching techniques.
• Fiber Testing: Proficiency in using testing tools to verify fiber integrity and performance.

Secondary Skills (Nice to Haves)

• Rack and stack experience (installing servers and equipment in data center racks)
• Familiarity with structured cabling standards
• Experience with fiber splicing or termination

Additional Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in data center environments
• Ability to work long shifts (up to 12 hours/day, 6–7 days/week)
• Strong work ethic and attention to detail
