Operations And Maintenance Engineer

We are seeking experienced Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technical Engineers to support a complex wastewater operations and maintenance consulting project. This role is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in wastewater treatment operations, startup, optimization, and troubleshooting across biological, membrane, thermal, and chemical treatment systems. Key Responsibilities Consultants may be asked to support the project in one or more of the following areas: Operations & Maintenance Support Provide recommendations for contractors and specialized services required for wastewater operations Review, update, and develop operating procedures Attend and contribute to operations and maintenance meetings Develop and refine operator rounds and daily monitoring practices Recommend system performance metrics and monitoring strategies Process & Compliance Support Provide technical support for permit compliance and regulatory requirements Support analytical sampling programs, laboratory coordination, and sampling plans Review process trends and recommend operational changes to optimize performance Develop mitigation strategies for managing non-compliant influent Startup & Commissioning Support initial system startup and stabilization Provide technical guidance for: Biological seeding and BNR startup Thermal system startup SCADA changes, tuning, and system optimization Troubleshooting & Optimization Provide process, mechanical, and controls troubleshooting support Optimize chemical usage, system loading, and treatment efficiency Support system tuning and performance baselining Technical Areas of Experience (Any Combination Preferred) Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: Water & Membrane Systems UF, RO, and MBR loading, flux normalization, profiling, and CIP testing IX resin loading, regeneration optimization, and baselining Water loop tuning and system performance optimization Chemical Systems Chemical offloading, PRV timing, pump drawdown, and header testing Process train and dewatering chemical optimization Clarifier blowdown optimization and CaF₂ dosing vs. pH strategies Biological Nutrient Removal (BNR) BNR seeding plans and execution MLSS, sludge age, and RAS optimization Microbial baselining, SDI baselining, and cleaning frequency Flux rate normalization and performance tracking Thermal & Mechanical Systems Evaporator, crystallizer, plate-and-frame heat exchanger performance baselining Thermal recirculation and vapor compressor vibration baselining Pump vibration baselining and system reliability optimization Instrumentation, Controls & Data SCADA tuning and optimization Automated reporting (e.g., RO flux calculation reports) Instrumentation enhancements and probe additions Qualifications Demonstrated experience in industrial or advanced wastewater treatment operations Strong understanding of treatment process fundamentals and system interactions Experience supporting plant startup, optimization, or troubleshooting Ability to analyze operational data and translate findings into actionable recommendations Excellent communication skills and ability to work with operators, engineers, and stakeholders Consultants will provide technical expertise across select project needs—candidates are not expected to have experience in every task listed, but should demonstrate strong working knowledge in several relevant areas.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Round Rock, TX.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Round Rock,TX.
