POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

The Psychologist provides clinical care in a behavioral health ambulatory clinic setting. Job has a critical impact on departmental operations and budget. Directly responsible for the safety of self and indirectly responsible for the safety of co-workers. Works collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to provide holistic care and develop comprehensive care plans for patients. Provides assessment and treatment for patients referred by University Medicine primary care and specialty providers for a variety of mental health needs, including behaviors that might interfere with physical health conditions. 

 

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from a graduate program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) or the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS) at the time the program was completed. Successful completion of a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA. Experience in providing clinical care for patients in an ambulatory setting for at least two years preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of psychological testing and evaluation techniques. Skill in communicating effectively with individuals with mental health needs. Ability to provide crisis intervention and support in urgent emotional situations. Ability to interpret psychological tests and results and ability to formulate diagnostic impressions. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, outside organizations, and the general public.

 

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

Must be licensed by the Texas Behavioral Health Executive Council/Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Compensation:$30.10 - $47.16
