POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Interviews patients to obtain accurate and complete patient demographic and insurance information in order to complete the admission and registration of all patients at various locations throughout UH and to ensure the Patient Billing Department can bill timely and correctly for the services rendered at UH. Communicates with privately paying patients about service charges and assists patients with payment arrangements. Collects copays, coinsurance and other monies that may be owed by patients. Collects appropriate forms for admission as required by Medicare, Medicaid, insurance companies and/or other agencies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

High school graduation or equivalent is required. Post high school coursework is preferred. Six (6) months experience in a hospital/physician setting, obtaining insurance benefits and pre-certification is preferred. Prior collection experience is preferred. Billing experience and contract knowledge is preferred. One year of experience in a similar occupation and basic medical terminology and ICD 9 coding experience is preferred.

Compensation:$18.45 - $22.25
