Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the monthly close process and financial reporting by preparing journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger. This role is ideal for a detail‑oriented, proactive professional who thrives in a fast‑paced, growing environment and takes ownership of their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Support month-end close by preparing journal entries and performing flux/variance analysis
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions to the general ledger
- Perform monthly cash and balance sheet reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies
- Prepare routine and non‑routine journal entries for revenue, receivables, accruals, and reclassifications
- Maintain assigned balance sheet schedules and supporting documentation
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
- Maintain process and control documentation
- Assist with ad hoc projects, financial analysis, and special initiatives
- Collaborate effectively with team members and management
- Adapt to changing business needs, including occasional overtime
Qualifications & Skills
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or a related role
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Strong working knowledge of general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (advanced skills a plus)
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented with a positive, “can‑do” attitude
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Antonio, TX 78248.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $28.85 - $32.69/hr.
