Job Description

A pump repair and service shop in North Houston has an immediate opening for a Pump Mechanic to join their team on the day shift. The role involves performing DCI's (Disassemble, Clean, and Inspect) on various pumps, diagnosing faults, and documenting 'as found'/'as built' conditions with pictures, dimensional data, and dispositioning. The mechanic will use dial indicator micrometers, bore gauges, and veneer calipers, and will be responsible for performing shaft alignments with laser alignment systems and balancing impellers. The ideal candidate should be able to work with minimal supervision and require no instructions for routine work.

Responsibilities

• Perform DCI's on various pumps including horizontal multi-stage, single-stage, overhung, and vertical turbine pumps.
• Diagnose faults and document conditions with pictures, dimensional data, and dispositioning.
• Utilize measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, and veneer calipers.
• Perform shaft alignments using laser alignment systems.
• Balance impellers.
• Work independently with minimal supervision.

Essential Skills

• Municipality pump experience.
• 5+ years of pump mechanic experience with API pumps, horizontal multistage pumps, overhung pumps, 'between bearing' pumps, single-stage pumps, and/or vertical turbine pumps.
• Experience performing DCI's with detailed documentation.
• Proficiency in using measuring tools such as micrometers, bore gauges, and veneer calipers.
• Experience with laser alignment systems for shaft alignment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience balancing impellers.
• Threading experience on a manual lathe.
• Experience with turbines, compressors, mechanical assembly, and blueprint reading.

Work Environment

The position is based in a clean, climate-controlled facility. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:30 am – 3:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Spring, TX.

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $34.00/hr.
