Position Responsibilities:

May include:
• Lead, mentor and support the team of IBM I technicians.
• Provide guidance, set performance objectives, conduct performance reviews, and foster professional growth with direct reports.
• Provide technical support and guidance to other 3rd party service provider, IT staff members and end-users.
• Oversee the processes of issue resolution and change management ensuring tickets and Request for Change (RFCs) are logged, prioritized, assigned, and resolved in a timely manner.
• Manage IBM I projects to ensure that projects and department goals are met and adhere to approved budgets.
• Collaborate with IT leadership to develop technology strategies aligned with business goals.
• Provide oversight to 3rd party service provider and/or perform install, configure, and maintain IBM i operating system and related software.
• Provide oversight to 3rd party service provider and/or perform system upgrades, patches, and fixes as needed.
• Implement and manage security measures, including user access controls, authentication, and authorization.
• Implement and enforce security policies and access controls to protect sensitive data and applications.
• Work with the security team to address vulnerabilities and maintain compliance with industry standards.
• Develop and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans for IBM i systems.
• Ensure regular backups and test recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and system availability.
• Monitor system performance and identify areas for optimization.
• Monitor system usage trends and plan for capacity upgrades when needed.
• Provide recommendations for hardware and software upgrades to meet future business requirements.
• Troubleshoot performance issues and implement solutions to enhance system efficiency.
• Configure and manage high availability (HA) and redundancy solutions for critical applications.
• Ensure failover mechanisms are in place to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with application development teams to provide support for application deployment and troubleshooting.
• Work with IT infrastructure teams to integrate IBM i systems into the overall technology environment.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to IBM i systems and related technologies.
• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.

Nature & Scope:
• Ensures work is aligned with the Director's expectations, goals, and vision
• Accountable for the implementation of policies, processes, and procedures
• Makes decisions and problem-solving guided by policies, procedures, and business plan
• Works on difficult to moderately complex issues and projects
• Provides guidance and training to subordinates
• Has authority to hire, recommend pay, establish performance goals, and recommend termination
• Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines

Knowledge & Skills:
• Extensive experience in IBM i system administration and management.
• Proficiency in programming languages used in IBM i environments, such as RPG (Report Program Generator).
• Strong knowledge of system security best practices and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with high availability and redundancy solutions for IBM i systems.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Competencies

Experience:
• 10+ years in related field
• 5+ years in a leadership position

Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field or equivalent work experience.

People Management: Yes
