Job Title: Lead Interior Designer


Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Interior Designer to join our team in Washington, D.C. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with 10–20+ years of experience in interior design, particularly in secure or government environments. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to high-impact design projects, ensuring excellence in functionality, aesthetics, and compliance with federal standards.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of complex interior design projects from concept through completion.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, project managers, and clients to develop innovative and functional design solutions.
  • Prepare and present design proposals, space plans, and material selections.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and security requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and coordinate with contractors and vendors during project implementation.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to team development.

Essential Skills

  • Interior design and interior architecture expertise.
  • Space planning and project management.
  • Minimum of 10 years of government experience.
  • Management experience.
  • Active TS clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Proven experience managing large-scale, high-security, or government-related design projects.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, ADA, and federal design standards.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed.

Work Environment

The position is based 100% on site at the worksite in the Metro Center Area. The project is scheduled to start on September 1 and will span 5 years. There is an opportunity to work in the office in a hybrid capacity before the project begins.
