Under both direct and indirect supervision, the Pharmacy Technician, also known as the Patient Care Representative (PCR), plays a crucial role in patient communication regarding therapy progress, physician follow-ups, and medication profile updates. This position involves coordinating the inventory for proper order refills and assisting pharmacists in obtaining laboratory values for review.
Responsibilities- Maintain team schedule for patient follow-ups, refill assessments, and deliveries.
- Participate in daily team huddles to prioritize and coordinate processing, compounding, and delivery of supplies and orders.
- Communicate with patients to review inventory for order refills and anticipate patient care or supply needs.
- Report non-compliance, process orders, and print labels and packing lists in a timely manner.
- Ensure timely and appropriate documentation in progress notes and communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and clinicians.
- Discuss patient progress, document in progress notes, and forward concerns and clinical questions to the team pharmacist.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse Coordinator to meet patient needs for supplies and timely deliveries.
- Update patient medication profiles in EMR and present them to the team pharmacist for review.
- Follow up with physician's offices as needed within the scope of practice.
- Notify the Reimbursement team of patient hospitalizations and changes in prescription or patient status.
- Assist pharmacists in obtaining laboratory values and forward them to the ordering physician, entering lab values in EMR as needed.
- Provide delivery representatives with patient pick-up forms and assist with scheduling equipment and medical waste pick-up.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager.
- Understand and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and patient/client care data, complying with federal and state laws and following HIPAA guidelines.
- Customer service skills.
- Pharmacy technician license with a minimum of 6 months of related experience.
- VA license is required.
- 2+ years of computer data entry experience.
- Knowledge in pharmacy procedures and prior authorization.
- Experience in retail pharmacy, fulfillment, and inventory management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, meet timelines, and complete assigned projects.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and demonstrated results.
- Proven performance history in a related field and a track record of customer satisfaction.
- Working knowledge of Home Infusion, Specialty Infusion, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME).
This position operates in a Closed Door Pharmacy environment with a focus on at-home infusion services. The working hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with rotating on-call weekends, mainly Saturdays. You will be part of a team consisting of 15 people.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chantilly, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $24.00/hr.
