Job Title: Pharmacy Service Representative


Job Description

The Pharmacy Service Representative is responsible for managing patient communication to discuss therapy progress, physician follow-up, and medication profile updates. The role involves assisting pharmacists in obtaining laboratory values for review and ensuring proper inventory for order refills.


Responsibilities

  • Maintain team schedule for patient follow-up, refill assessments, and deliveries.
  • Participate in team huddles each morning to prioritize and coordinate processing, compounding, and delivery of supplies/orders.
  • Communicate with patients to review inventory for proper refilling of existing orders.
  • Anticipate patient care or supply needs to ensure appropriate inventory maintenance.
  • Report non-compliance and process orders, print labels, and packing lists promptly.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate documentation in progress notes.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and clinicians involved in patient care.
  • Discuss patient progress and forward concerns and clinical questions to the team pharmacist.
  • Coordinate with the Warehouse Coordinator to meet patient needs for supplies and deliveries.
  • Update patient medication profiles in EMR for pharmacist review.
  • Follow up with physician's office as appropriate within the scope of practice.
  • Notify the Reimbursement team of patient hospitalizations and changes in prescriptions or patient status.
  • Assist pharmacists in obtaining laboratory values and forward them to ordering physicians.
  • Enter lab values in EMR as appropriate.
  • Provide delivery representatives with patient pick-up forms and assist in scheduling equipment and medical waste pick-up.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.
  • Understand confidentiality regarding proprietary information and patient/client care, complying with federal and state laws and HIPAA guidelines.

Essential Skills

  • Customer service skills
  • Pharmacy technician license in the state of Virginia required
  • 1-2 years of pharmacy technician experience required
  • 1-2+ years of computer data entry experience required
  • VA license
  • Knowledge of pharmacy procedures
  • Understanding of Home Infusion, Specialty Infusion, and Durable Medical Equipment (DME)

Work Environment

The work environment is a closed-door pharmacy focused on at-home infusion. The role offers room for growth and advancement. The working hours are from 8:30 AM to 6 PM, covering an 8-hour shift. This position does not involve direct patient-facing duties.
