Job Title: Mechanical AssemblerJob Description

As a Mechanical Assembler, you will be engaged in either Sub Assembly or general assembly processes. You will learn to add metal brackets and use hand and power tools to attach fasteners, clips, or other hardware onto window units. Additionally, you will utilize caulking guns to fill spaces and test caulking products to ensure proper sealing. Your role will involve a high level of attention to detail, as you paint material ends, work with non-fiberglass insulation, and apply netting or wrapping around final units. Throughout the process, you will inspect for assembly flaws and work with large pieces of glass and sheet metal.

Responsibilities
  • Add metal brackets and use hand and power tools to attach hardware onto window units.
  • Use caulking guns to fill spaces and test caulking products for sealing effectiveness.
  • Paint the ends of materials and work with non-fiberglass insulation.
  • Apply netting or wrapping around final units and inspect for any assembly flaws.
  • Work with large pieces of glass/sheet metal and stand or walk for an 8-hour shift.
  • Retrieve materials from the yard and conduct unit testing in testing booths.
  • Meet daily and overall production goals for respective departments and assembly lines.
  • Participate in cross-training across various areas and adapt to different tasks as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a mechanical role.
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading, fabrication, fitting, and installation.
  • Experience with power tools and construction.
  • Ability to read a tape measure with precision.
  • 1-2 years of experience in the mechanical field using hand and power tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Computer skills are a plus.
  • 6 months minimum experience in an assembly-type role.
  • Construction or home improvement experience is ideal.
  • Flexibility to perform tasks as needed and receive positive feedback.
  • Positive attitude, great listening skills, and a "can-do" approach.
  • Ability to adapt to different working areas, including the insulation area.

Work Environment

Work in a non-climate controlled, busy manufacturing facility filled with assemblers and some loud machinery. The environment includes both indoor and outdoor storage of materials, and tasks may involve exposure to outside conditions. The shift runs from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the possibility of mandatory overtime during the week or on Saturdays if needed. The team-oriented atmosphere involves working with large pieces of glass, sheet metal, and steel frames in a collaborative setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chester, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
