Job Description
The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, and optimizing injection molding machines, molds, and auxiliary equipment to produce high-quality plastic parts efficiently. This role requires strong technical molding knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and a commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Perform mold, color, and machine changeovers accurately and on schedule.
- Set, monitor, and adjust process parameters (temperatures, pressures, cycle times, speeds) to meet quality and efficiency targets.
- Start up and shut down presses and auxiliary equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve process defects such as flash, short shots, warpage, and burns.
- Identify and implement process improvements to reduce scrap and cycle times.
- Perform basic machine and mold maintenance and minor repairs.
- Document process settings, changes, troubleshooting actions, and production data.
- Provide technical support and guidance to operators.
- Ensure molds are maintained in optimal condition with minimal downtime.
- Perform mold repairs and preventive maintenance per established schedules.
- Maintain accurate mold history and repair documentation.
- Manage inventory of spare mold components.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Communicate effectively with molding, tooling, and production teams, as well as internal and external customers.
- Participate in training, safety, quality, and production meetings.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and follow management-directed procedures.
- Identify and report safety hazards and work safely at all times.
- Work overtime as required and perform other assigned duties.
- Proficiency in operating injection mold and molding machines.
- Technical knowledge of injection molded plastic parts.
- Experience in mold and machine operating.
- Ability to operate forklifts, bridge cranes, and mold handling equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions and documentation.
- Proficiency in mold maintenance, working to tolerances as tight as .0005".
- Skilled with precision measurement tools such as micrometers and depth gauges.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Basic computer skills, including spreadsheets and inventory tracking systems.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Machinist Associate’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of mold tool and die repair experience preferred.
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications required.

Work Environment
The position operates within an indoor manufacturing environment. Work hours are Monday to Friday, with the possibility of overtime. The facility is equipped with modern technologies ensuring a safe and efficient work space.

This is a Permanent position based out of Danville, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40144.00 - $58240.00/yr.
