Job Description
We are seeking a Digital Services Technical Manager with expertise in AWS Cloud and Kubernetes to drive innovation and foster collaboration among diverse teams. In this role, you will lead initiatives and advocate for modern software practices through a DevSecOps methodology.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a key technical leader to drive the maturity of current software development and continuous delivery of highly visible applications.
- Demonstrate a proven track record in consulting or advisory roles, driving strategic change and digital adoption across multiple business units.
- Oversee and implement technology transformation initiatives involving artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and emerging digital solutions.
- Assess the technical and business environment to quickly provide executive-level communication regarding the status of an event.
- Respond to RFIs and draft technical approach responses that align with our roadmap and strategic agenda.
- Provide accountability for digital services initiatives and lead resources to ensure successful outcomes.
- Utilize modern tools and observability metrics to identify and troubleshoot recurring enterprise or cloud platform issues.
- Monitor and manage communications during high-impact events via relevant channels.
- Prioritize, manage, and resolve emerging and developing customer issues from start to finish.
- Utilize enterprise domain expertise on monitoring and alerting tools & practices.
- Identify areas where standardization of process will aid incident response.
- Ensure standards are maintained within technical engineering teams.
- Identify inefficiencies in team processes and create plans to address them.
- Create a standard approach for how data, systems, and new technologies connect and work together.
- Participate in Agile sprints to evolve business processes and drive improvements.
- Manage the workload and performance of other resources.
Essential Skills
- 10 years of experience, potentially including supervisory or lead experience.
- At least 10 years of experience with AWS, networking, IT security tools, databases, and tools.
- Hands-on technical expertise in DevSecOps, security, automation, application development, databases, implementation, integration, and release management.
- Experience with establishing and maturing application development and CICD towards progressive delivery.
- Proficiency with Terraform for infrastructure as code solutions.
- Strong understanding of identity access management roles and permissions.
- Experience using tools in an AWS Cloud environment, such as CloudWatch and OpenSearch.
- Experience with security tools such as Aqua and DLP.
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes-based containerized applications (AWS EKS).
- Experience with GitLab CICD, including enabling environments, feature flags, and DORA Metrics aggregation.
- Experience with real-time monitoring, alerting, and diagnostics tools during incidents.
- Experience with observability tools such as Datadog.
- Coding proficiency in at least one software language (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby).
- Self-starter with the ability to execute at both tactical and strategic levels.
- Ability to support a 24/7 environment and work off-hours for issues or changes.
- Strong analytical acumen and solid technology experience.
- Leadership presence and communication skills to work effectively with customers at all organization levels.
- Effective communication skills for complex technical matters, both in writing and verbally.
- Passion for leading the resolution of critical incidents.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in using AWS Cloud environment tools such as CloudWatch and OpenSearch.
- Experience with security tools like Aqua and DLP.
- Proficiency in working with Kubernetes-based containerized applications.
- Experience with GitLab CICD and DORA Metrics aggregation.
Work Environment
This position is fully remote and part of a team hiring eight consultants in total for systems engineering roles. The role involves supporting a 24/7 environment, requiring work during off-hours for issues or changes.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Herndon, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $80.00/hr.
