  • PAY:$40-47 an hour depending on experience
  • SCHEDULE/ENVIRONMENT: *Below*

• On site. Monday-Friday 40 hrs a week, 2hr OT buffer

• 5% Team meetings/ fire protection meetings

• 40% working with fire protection engineer on tasks

• 40% working with mechanical engineers; RFIs

• 15% Flex time; working more with fire protections, additional calls, etc.


Job Description:

We're looking for an outstanding Fire Protection or Mechanical Engineer who combines superb technical and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to get the right things done quickly and effectively. This person will be responsible for implementing standardized Fire Protection, fire suppression, fire detection, fire alarm and overall fire safety mechanical design and related code analysis for our client's Data Centers. The ideal candidate will have a foundation in fire protection and/or mechanical engineering suited for building fire protection, system design, construction and/or operations.

KEY RESPONSIBLITIES: with Sr. Fire Protection Engineer oversight

- Driving improvement of design standards and project approaches

- Working with third party design vendors to review concept designs and designs in progress to ensure they meet established design standards, local code requirements and any other requirements of the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs)

- Interdisciplinary coordination of fire protection and life safety design elements

- Coordinating with construction commissioning and risk management teams to answer requests for information and value engineering queries

- Development and oversight of construction documents, code compliance design, installation standards, water supply evaluation, assessment testing inspections, and submittal review. Meet with AHJs as needed to ensure approval of fire protection features

- Review of Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm System Construction Submittals, shop drawings, calculations, product data, and RFIs


MUST HAVES:

- BSc/MSc in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or equivalent engineering degree in a related field or 5 years of qualifying experience

- Cumulative of 2 years of experience in design engineering or the construction industry related to fire protection engineering including fire suppression systems, fire alarm and detection systems fire-resistive construction and life safety

- Experience applying local codes National Fire Protection Association NFPA standards International Code Council ICC requirements and other fire protection industry standards procedures and methodologies

- Experience with processes of design reviews, specification development of design standards and submittal reviews

- Experience with construction documentations, design drawings, controls diagrams, specifications, etc. for all trades

- Strong communication and writing skills


NICE TO HAVES:

- Experience directly with related construction of data centers critical medical industrial construction oil and gas or large-scale mechanical and power systems.

- Experience with Code Modification Requests CMRs and Alternate Materials and Methods AMM proposals

- Experience with fire marshal fire plans examiners fire inspector or authority having jurisdictions.

- Use of engineering project management software
