Job Title: Safety Specialist


Job Description

The Safety Specialist will play a crucial role in overseeing the health and safety procedures for multiple data center operations in the Northern Virginia region. As a floater, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and procedures across various project sites, driving to 2-3 locations per week. This is an 8-month contract position with a strong possibility of transitioning to full-time, offering limited to no overtime.


Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts for the creation of Site-Specific Safety Plans.
  • Work with project teams to establish a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Assist and participate in client-sponsored safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Conduct and record weekly site safety audits at multiple locations to ensure and document safe working conditions.
  • Ensure subcontractors follow client procedures, OSHA, state, and site-specific regulations.
  • Assist the client Safety Manager with safety and health issues concerning employees, subcontractors, clients, and the general public.
  • Ensure subcontractors properly use their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety documentation, including Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), permits, and training records.
  • Collect and record data and pertinent information related to safety incidents.
  • Attend coordination meetings to offer advice on performing upcoming tasks safely.

Essential Skills

  • 7 years of experience in vertical construction as a site safety specialist.
  • OSHA certifications, including OSHA 500 and CHST (preferred).
  • Experience in data center construction is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • A partnership approach to safety, collaborating effectively with various teams.

Work Environment

The work environment involves traveling between different data center sites within the Northern Virginia region, requiring a do-not-exceed mileage allowance of $175 per week. It demands a professional approach to safety management, ensuring a compliant and safe working atmosphere across all project sites. The role involves interaction with various stakeholders, requiring effective communication and coordination skills.
