Job Title: Entry Level Structured Cabling Data Center Technician

$24-26/hr - overtime available

Start Date: Early January 2026

Located at new data center construction site

Must have OSHA 10 or higher (or willing to obtain)

Job Description

Join our dynamic team at a leading data center in Leesburg, Virginia, where you will work standard Monday to Friday business hours. As a Technician, you will play a crucial role in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware and cabling systems.

Responsibilities

  • Install and remove servers, routers, power supplies, and related hardware
  • Perform rack-and-stack work, including labeling, documentation, and organizing cabling pathways
  • Install, terminate, and test Cat6 and fiber optic cabling
  • Complete basic hardware upgrades and operating system installations
  • Assist with troubleshooting hardware, cabling, and basic network connectivity issues
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure proper asset labeling
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment
  • Work within construction and ISP data center environments, ensuring adherence to project specifications and timelines

Essential Skills

  • 0-4 years experience for Tech 1 level
  • Experience with installation, maintenance, and decommissioning in data centers.
  • Proficiency in working with copper and fiber optic cabling, routers, and switches.
  • Skill in rack and stack, Cat6 pulling cable, and structured cabling.
  • Experience with termination testing, patch panel, fiber polishing, and fusion splicing.
  • Must have ground-up construction data center experience, preferably at least 4 months.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
  • Basic understanding of data center systems, including servers, SANs, and network technologies.
  • Foundational knowledge of structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber media.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic technical drawings, floor plans, and schematics.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other productivity tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily in data center and field environments and may require work during nonstandard hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on customer needs. Standard PPE is required (provided by the company), and composite boots are a must.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Leesburg, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
