Job Title: Powder Coat Painter/Oven Operator

Job Description

As a Powder Coat Painter/Oven Operator, you will play a critical role in the final stages of our furniture production process. Your primary responsibilities will include operating the Oven Room and the area following the Electro Ceramic Coating (ECC) department, ensuring all furniture is adequately dried and prepped for painting. This position requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of process and product flow.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the Oven Room and oversee the drying process of furniture post-ECC.
  • Monitor gauges and lift furniture for hook attachment, ensuring safe and efficient handling.
  • Learn and execute the intricate process of powder coating to ensure precise paint placement.
  • Lift and manage materials independently, handling weights of 60lbs-70lbs unassisted.
  • Monitor approximately 24 electrical boxes and machine functions, documenting all outputs.
  • Ensure precise monitoring of drying temperatures and timing techniques, maintaining the integrity of the furniture.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to prevent over prepping, over painting, or damage.

Essential Skills

  • 1-2 years of machine operation experience.
  • Mechanical inclination with at least 5 years of experience.
  • 0-1 year of experience in powder coating or industrial spray painting.
  • 0-1 year of control room/oven operations experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in process manufacturing.

Work Environment

The work environment is very clean and well-lit, though it can become quite hot during summer months due to the absence of air conditioning. Shifts are flexible, typically running from 6am-2pm, with potential changes to early or split shifts in the future. This role requires adaptability to work alone and maintain a steady pace in a high-temperature setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richmond, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.
