Description

Actalent is looking for a Harness Technician. The Technician will be responsible for harness drawing reviews, parts selection reviews and inputs, fabrication, assembly, and testing of spacecraft harnessing. In this position you will need to perform soldering, crimping, splicing, staking, torquing, pull testing, and hi-pot testing all while maintaining high quality and concise documentation. This technician will also provide guidance to technicians in the early stages of their careers.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assemble and test spacecraft harnesses per engineering drawings and industry standards.

• Cut, strip, toque, stake, and terminate wires to the required lengths, both with and without a mockup to ensure that bend radii needs are maintained.

• Perform hi-pot and pull testing of harnessing.

• Proficiency with hand tools, crimping tools, soldering equipment, and other relevant machinery used for assembly and test.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

• Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot wiring issues effectively.

• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and other departments.

• Ensure processes and cleanroom protocols are followed by all personnel.

• Review harness drawings prior to release to confirm BOM and overall design.

• Provide guidance to technicians on harness fabrication, crimping, soldering, and testing.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in building wiring harnesses, ideally in the aviation and/or aerospace industry.

• Certified in J-Std and IPC-620 with Space Addendum.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.

• Experience with harness installation onto spacecraft.

• Proficiency in reading drawings, process sheets, instructions.

• Experience with ESD, FOD, and 100k cleanroom operations.

• Passion for the space industry

• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with little input on requirements or management oversight

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and able to use MS Word and Excel.

Physical Qualifications:

• Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs, briefly.

• Ability to work in a production environment for extended periods of time, including sitting, standing, and handling small components.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Sterling, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
