Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our field operations team in Virginia Beach. This role involves operating a variety of heavy machinery to support grading and site development projects. The ideal candidate is safety‑focused, dependable, and comfortable working both inside and outside of equipment cabs as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment including excavators, bulldozers, motor graders, and front-end loaders
- Perform grading, leveling, trenching, and site preparation according to project specifications
- Clear land and remove debris to prepare sites for construction
- Load, move, and distribute materials such as dirt, gravel, and rock
- Assist with groundwork and finish work alongside the grade crew
- Conduct daily equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs
- Maintain a clean, safe, and productive worksite in accordance with company safety standards
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience operating heavy equipment in a construction or site development environment
- Proven experience operating excavators, dozers, and front-end loaders
- Ability and willingness to work outside the cab when required
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety practices
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience in grading and site development
- Ability to operate motor graders and vibratory rollers
- Familiarity with grade checking and reading basic site plans
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic

Work Schedule & Location
- 40–50 hours per week
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Occasional weekend work as needed
- Local projects in the Virginia Beach area
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, VA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
