Job Title: Roadway Designer Engineer


Job Description

This position is available in various locations including Vienna, VA, Richmond, VA, and Virginia Beach, VA, with Virginia Beach being the most preferred location. Responsibilities

  • Assist in various aspects of transportation engineering projects under the supervision of a licensed Engineer.
  • Design roadways, streetscapes, multimodal improvements, traffic improvements, and associated infrastructure components.
  • Perform analysis and design for interstates, interchanges, urban and rural roadways, and site grading.
  • Prepare programming, schematic, design development, and construction documents.
  • Coordinate and communicate with design team members to ensure proper integration of transportation design details.
  • Prepare marketing and presentation materials.
  • Participate in the bidding process by preparing addenda and amendments, opening, and tabulating bids.
  • Perform transportation services during the construction phase, including field visits, answering RFIs, reviewing shop drawings, and preparing record drawings.
  • Comply with quality control policies and procedures.
  • Participate in team meetings and coordinate efforts with other team members.
  • Research standards and specifications based on project requirements.

Essential Skills

  • 1-3+ years of roadway design experience.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Civil, Environmental and Infrastructure Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology.
  • Experience designing roadways and associated infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation and OpenRoads.
  • Ability to develop manual calculations and analytical models for transportation analysis and design.
  • Working familiarity with design and production software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with traffic operations, microsimulation, and travel demand forecasting is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of traffic engineering programs such as VISSIM, Synchro, and Transmodeler is a plus but not required.
  • Ability to prepare effective and concise documents and correspondence.
  • Presentation skills to engage various groups.
  • Client-oriented attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional services.
  • Dedication to professional development and the advancement of the engineering profession.

Work Environment

Compensation:$50.48
