Job Title: Government Property Management Specialist


Job Description

As a Government Property Management Specialist, you will play a critical role in verifying and ensuring compliance with contract provisions related to the acquisition, control, use, inventory, care, and disposition of government property. You will be responsible for maintaining compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and conducting surveillance of subcontractor government property. Your role includes acting as a liaison to government agencies during property audits and analyses.


Responsibilities

  • Verify terms of contract provisions specifying the company's obligations regarding government property.
  • Ensure compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and maintain surveillance of subcontractor government property.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, Contracting Officers, internal managers, and representatives.
  • Act as the organizational representative to government agencies during annual property analysis and audit.
  • Verify proper tracking and recording of the movement of government property.
  • Work closely with Property Custodians to ensure overall accountability of assets.
  • Mentor property custodians in processes and procedures related to Government Property.
  • Provide oversight to verify that physical inventories are completed and reported within FAR/DFARS/Contract standards.
  • Maintain and verify logs and status records of lost, damaged, or destroyed items.
  • Investigate and recommend measures for lost or damaged property to reduce liability.
  • Use databases to monitor and verify the accuracy of records.
  • Develop and review organizational government property policies and tools for compliance.
  • Plan, schedule, and conduct assessments, audits, and spot checks to track property movement.
  • Verify the completion of property-related activities at contract completion or termination.

Essential Skills

  • Extensive experience in property management and government property management.
  • In-depth knowledge of FAR/DFARs and applicable property regulations.
  • Proficient in Federal Databases such as PUBFLIS, WEBFLIS, and PCARSS.
  • Experience with DRMO/Plant Clearance processes and relevant forms.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and inventory tracking databases.
  • Experience with government property audits.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in government property administration.
  • Membership in National Property Management Association (NPMA).
  • Certified Professional Property Manager (CPPM) certification is required.
  • Possess flexibility, proactiveness, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role located in Norfolk, VA, with working hours from 8am to 5pm. The role is part of a small team, reporting to two managers located in Norfolk and Europe. The team is collaborative, with a supportive culture where everyone contributes. The position may involve working with various employees handling government property. Relocation assistance up to $5000 is available, and security clearance is preferred but not mandatory; the ability to obtain one is required.

Compensation:$142000
