The Translational Pathology Biomarker Testing Laboratory (TPBTL) within the Translational Sciences organization is seeking a highly motivated, multidisciplinary scientist to assist with the development, implementation, and execution of biomarker testing for drug programs that have progressed to early phase clinical development. This position will primarily support immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) assay development and clinical testing in a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory. The role includes performing and documenting standardized experiments, assisting with specimen accessioning, testing, imaging, data analysis, quality control, report writing, and other tasks as needed. Additionally, responsibilities include general laboratory operational tasks such as maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering, and inventory management. The scientist will work in a dynamic, cross-functional team that includes pathologists, program managers, clinical technicians, data management, quality, regulatory, and management.
Responsibilities- Develop and validate immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH) assays.
- Utilize microscopes and imaging systems, including commercial image analysis software packages, on a daily basis.
- Independently plan and execute laboratory experiments, collect data, and communicate and present results to internal teams with guidance as needed.
- Maintain current and broad knowledge in Molecular & Cellular Biology, Cancer Biology, and Pathology.
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize data into presentations, posters, and reports.
- Assist in writing, following, and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures.
- Work in a regulated environment associated with maintaining a high-performing CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory.
- Order and maintain reagents and supplies, ensure instrument maintenance, and manage general lab operations.
- Maintain a great team culture, participate in department initiatives, and seek career development opportunities.
- B.S. and 2+ years of laboratory experience; M.S. and 0-2 years in a biological science-related field.
- Experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to follow and execute standard operating procedures.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
- Experience with molecular biology and/or histology techniques.
- Experience working in a regulated clinical laboratory, CLIA and/or CAP environment is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge in cancer biology, immunology, or histopathology.
- Use of microscopes, imaging systems, and image analysis software.
- Experience in multiplexing and/or fluorescent IHC, a plus.
- Assay development using automated platforms.
- Data management, data analysis, and statistical software packages.
The work environment involves working in a CLIA-certified, CAP-accredited laboratory. The position requires collaboration with a dynamic, cross-functional team including pathologists, program managers, clinical technicians, data management, quality, and regulatory professionals. The laboratory utilizes advanced microscopes, imaging systems, and commercial image analysis software packages. The role involves maintaining laboratory equipment and managing inventory in a regulated setting.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Bothell, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $57.70 - $57.70/hr.
