Shipfitter (Secret Clearance Required)

Location: Silverdale, WA

Pay: $38/hour + $178/day per diem

Must have active secret clearance

Join a long‑term U.S. Navy submarine program in Silverdale, WA. This project offers stability, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to support mission‑critical defense work. Key Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and ship specifications
• Lay out, cut, fit, and tack‑weld steel plates and structural components
• Install decks, bulkheads, foundations, brackets, and related ship structures
• Use precision measuring tools (levels, squares, plumb bobs, tape measures)
• Operate grinders, cutting torches, saws, and other fabrication equipment
• Align and secure metal components using wedges, chain falls, come‑along, and rigging tools
• Assist welders and contribute to structural assembly tasks
• Inspect finished work for accuracy and compliance
• Work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various submarine compartments
• Follow all shipyard safety protocols, including hot‑work and confined‑space procedures

Essential Qualifications

• Experience in ship fitting, structural fabrication, or industrial construction
• Strong ability to interpret structural drawings and blueprints
• Skilled in layout, cutting, fitting, and basic welding/tacking
• Familiarity with shipyard tools and rigging practices
• Physically capable of climbing, kneeling, lifting, and working in tight spaces
• Strong understanding of marine‑environment safety standards
• Active Secret Security Clearance required

Work Environment

This role is located on the Bangor Submarine Base, working inside various ship compartments, including confined and elevated spaces. Strict safety procedures—including hot‑work, fall protection, and confined‑space compliance—are mandatory.

This is a Contract position based out of Bremerton, WA.

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $38.00/hr.
