Job Description
The Machine Operator will operate spot welding machines to join metal parts according to established production and quality standards. This role involves positioning and securing materials, following detailed work instructions, inspecting finished welds for defects, and maintaining a safe, clean work area while consistently meeting daily production goals.
Responsibilities
- Operate spot welding machines to join metal parts and build durable metal frames.
- Position, align, and securely clamp materials in the welding fixtures according to work instructions and blueprints.
- Follow standardized production procedures and work instructions to ensure consistent quality and output.
- Inspect finished welds and assemblies for defects, such as incomplete welds, misalignment, or visible damage, and make necessary adjustments.
- Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, and other production equipment safely and correctly during assembly and fabrication tasks.
- Perform basic mechanical assembly and fabrication tasks as needed to support production of HVAC units and related components.
- Handle, lift, and maneuver large metal parts and materials, including lifting 50+ lbs on a regular basis.
- Maintain a safe, organized, and clean work area, promptly addressing any safety concerns or hazards.
- Work in a fast-paced production environment while standing for up to 10 hours per day.
- Meet or exceed daily production goals while maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve production issues and support continuous improvement.
- Follow all safety policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of machinery.
- Ability to stand on feet for at least 10 hours per day in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs on a regular basis while handling large metal components.
- Willingness to learn new tasks, processes, and equipment operation.
- Experience with machine operation or general production work in a manufacturing setting.
- Basic ability to use hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools safely.
- Attention to detail when positioning materials and inspecting welds for defects.
- Ability to follow written and verbal work instructions accurately.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and safe equipment operation.
- Previous manufacturing experience, particularly in production assembly or fabrication, is preferred.
- Prior welding or spot welding experience is highly desirable.
- Experience with mechanical assembly in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints or production drawings.
- Experience operating a variety of machines in a general production environment.
- Comfort working with hand tools, power tools, and air-compressed tools.
- Strong work ethic and reliability, with the ability to support overtime as needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility that produces HVAC units for heavy equipment. The production area is very loud and fast paced, with team members standing on their feet for approximately 10 hours per day. The work involves frequent handling of large metal parts, including lifting, moving, and maneuvering components throughout the shift. Employees operate spot welding machines, hand tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools, and work around moving equipment and large metal assemblies. The schedule primarily follows a day shift from 6:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., with overtime available on Fridays for up to 8 hours. Safety protocols, use of appropriate personal protective equipment, and adherence to established procedures are essential aspects of the work environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Puyallup, WA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.00/hr.
