Please note that this is a contract role providing services to Microsoft through external staffing partners of Allegis Global Solutions. If you are selected for this role, you will be employed by AGS and will not be an employee of Microsoft.

Summary:
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced laboratory professional to contribute to the development of cutting-edge custom compute and AI hardware designed for next-generation data center applications. Working hands-on with pre-production engineering samples, you will play a critical role in collecting precise measurements and data that directly influence hardware development and manufacturing readiness. This position requires a detail-oriented technical expert who thrives in a collaborative laboratory environment and possesses strong skills in electrical measurement, system assembly, and hardware rework. You will work closely with engineering teams to ensure that complex hardware platforms meet rigorous performance standards before deployment. The role demands someone who is comfortable with the precision and discipline required for high-stakes hardware validation work, where accuracy and attention to detail are paramount.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Execute Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) measurements on test boards and engineering validation boards to validate interconnect performance
  • Conduct oscilloscope measurements and time domain reflectometry measurements on circuit boards
  • Prepare and assemble systems and test fixtures to enable accurate measurement collection
  • Add instrumentation to devices and boards under test to facilitate high-precision measurements
  • Perform soldering and unsoldering of components on circuit boards as needed for board preparation
  • Rework and modify hardware systems to meet testing requirements
  • Summarize and document measurement data for engineering review
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure proper calibration of measurement tools
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot hardware issues and optimize measurement processes
Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working as a laboratory technician
  • Minimum 7 years of experience taking electrical measurements on hardware systems
  • Minimum 7 years of experience with hardware reworking, assembling, and soldering
  • Previous experience working in hardware laboratories with test boards and engineering validation boards
  • Experience assembling data center platforms including installing boards into chassis, attaching cables, heatsinks, and fans is highly preferred
  • Background supporting data center hardware development is a significant advantage
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, electronics, or related technical field
  • Proficiency with Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) equipment and measurement techniques
  • Advanced electrical measurement capabilities including oscilloscope and TDR measurements
  • Expert-level soldering and desoldering skills for circuit board components
  • System assembly expertise for complex electrical systems and computer platforms
  • Knowledge of high-speed interconnects such as PCI Express and DDR
  • Data collection, analysis, and summarization abilities
  • Understanding of signal integrity and interconnect performance validation
  • Mechanical aptitude for hardware rework and fixture assembly
  • Attention to detail and precision in measurement execution
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
Additional Details:
  • Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite)
  • Duration: 3 months
  • Pay Range*: $58 - $66 per hour
  • Weekly Schedule: 40 hours
  • Job Status: Non-Exempt
