You will own complex electronic and optical test infrastructure, including test racks and Automated Test Equipment (ATE), and ensure it is designed, delivered, validated, and sustained to meet demanding hardware development and validation needs. Working at the intersection of hardware engineering, test development, lab operations, and supply chain, you will drive disciplined program execution in a highly technical, fast-moving environment and play a direct role in the test readiness and reliability of low Earth orbit satellite programs.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive end-to-end technical programs that support satellite and ground-system test infrastructure, from concept through deployment and sustainment.
- Manage delivery schedules, milestones, and discrepancies for test systems, test racks, and lab deployments to ensure on-time, high-quality execution.
- Lead procurement of materials and equipment, partnering with supply chain teams and external vendors to manage availability, lead times, and constraints.
- Identify, track, and resolve discrepancies across test hardware, ATE configurations, documentation, and bills of materials to maintain configuration integrity.
- Manage the build, deployment, validation, and ongoing sustainment of complex test racks and Automated Test Equipment systems across multiple lab locations.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware design, test engineering, manufacturing, lab operations, and reliability, to align requirements and resolve issues.
- Establish mechanisms to track and report the health of test racks, including utilization, uptime, failures, and performance metrics, and drive continuous improvement.
- Coordinate and support new lab and location activities to ensure test racks and related infrastructure are installed, qualified, and fully operational on schedule.
- Drive risk management and issue resolution using data-driven decision making, ensuring that technical and schedule risks are identified, communicated, and mitigated.
- Provide clear written and verbal communication, including regular status updates and executive-level reporting on program health, risks, and key decisions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Program Manager or Engineering Program Manager in hardware, test, or lab environments.
- Expereince in electronic design, hardware testing, or validation systems.
- Proven experience managing Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and complex test infrastructure.
- Demonstrated ability to manage detailed schedules, cross-team dependencies, and technical risks in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering executive-level reporting.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with hardware design, test engineering, manufacturing, lab operations, and reliability teams.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with optical systems or optical testing.
- Experience supporting space, aerospace, satellite, or other high-reliability hardware programs.
- Hands-on experience with test rack design, integration, deployment, and sustainment.
- Familiarity with manufacturing test, new product introduction (NPI), and production ramps.
- Experience scaling test infrastructure across multiple lab locations.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Exposure to low Earth orbit systems, electronic technologies, and optical technologies.
- Interest in owning critical infrastructure that enables cutting-edge hardware development and validation.
- Ability to thrive in a high-visibility role that requires both technical depth and strong program leadership.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role within a low Earth orbit-focused engineering and test environment. You will work closely with lab operations, hardware design, and test engineering teams in facilities that house advanced electronic and optical test systems, including complex test racks and Automated Test Equipment. The environment is highly technical, fast-paced, and collaborative, with a strong focus on disciplined execution, reliability, and readiness for satellite and ground-system testing. You will spend significant time coordinating across labs and supporting the deployment and scaling of test infrastructure at multiple locations.
